Megan Weatherford is a self-taught artist based near Athens, GA. Daughter of an art teacher, creating was a solid part of her upbringing exposing her to a plethora of artistic mediums throughout her childhood. Megan’s work is most notable for her use of intricate patterns and minimalistic aesthetic. She challenges perfectionism with intuitive mark making and leaning into imperfections. Megan’s more recent works are made by carving acrylic paint with linoleum knives to create texture that changes depending on the work’s environmental light and the viewer’s perspective. Light is an essential part of Megan’s creative process and philosophy. She uses negative space, excavation, and texture to bring out the light in her work which in turn symbolizes the existence of everlasting hope.
